Dr. Harish Chandra Purohit (Born on 15th July, 1976) did his B.Sc. (1997), M.Sc. (1999) from HNB Garhwal University and Ph.D (2007) from the HAPPRC, HNB Garhwal University. He joined Ph.D program in the Department of Botany of HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar. He obtained his Ph.D degree in the subject of Botany under the supervision of Prof. M.C. Nautiyal. He has joined as Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany at SDBIT, Dehradun and also acted as external expert during the examination of graduate and post graduate level. He is presently working as Assistant Professor at Department of Botany at Dr. Shivanand Nautiyal Government Degree College, Vedikhal, Uttarakhand. Dr. Purohit has published more than 20 Research Papers in Journals of International and National of high repute. He has attended and contributed his research work in more than 35 conferences/seminars/symposia and also participated in numbers of training workshops at International and National level. He has been instrumental in celebrating/organizing events on the Earth Day, World Environment Day, Independence Day, Wild Life Week and Ozone day in the college every year.
Dr. Purohit has worked on research projects in India Glycol Limited, SARA Group etc. on cultivation and uses of Ethno-medicinal and aromatic plants.
The research work of Dr. Purohit on Botany with special reference to eco-physiology and agrotechnology of medicinal plants is being widely cited by various researchers in their research communications. In the year 2023, Dr. Purohit organized a National Seminar as Organizing Secretary on Wildlife Threats with special reference to forest fire at GDC, Vedikhal. Dr. Purohit acted as resource person at various platforms such as Seminar, symposia, workshops etc. He is expert members of various universities of India.
